Autism Friendly Gym Classes in Waterford

 

We are excited to announce the continuation of our Autism Friendly Gym Classes in Waterford, following the success of our pilot program launched in Summer 2024. These sessions have been specifically designed to support children and teens in improving their strength, fitness, and coordination in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

January/February 2025 – New 6-week Term

 

Class Dates: January 11th, 18th, 25th, February 1st, 8th, & 15th
Class Time: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
Location: Motiv8 Fitness, Crystal Sport & Leisure Centre, Waterford

Our Autism Friendly Gym Classes build on the positive impact of previous programmes, continuing to offer structured, fun, and engaging sessions led by expert coaches who are passionate about youth fitness.

Meet Lauren Murphy: Lead Coach

 

Lauren Murphy is a dedicated and compassionate coach with a passion for helping individuals of all abilities thrive through exercise. Since joining Motiv8 Fitness in July 2023, Lauren has specialised in creating inclusive, supportive fitness experiences for diverse groups, including individuals with disabilities.

Lauren holds a degree in Health & Exercise Science from SETU Waterford and is a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor. Her extensive experience includes designing tailored fitness programmes at invincABLE in Waterford, where she worked with children and adults with autism, Down’s syndrome, and other disabilities. Lauren has also supported stroke survivors in staying active and building confidence in a safe, fun environment.

Lauren’s love for fitness extends beyond her professional work. A lifelong sports enthusiast, she holds a black belt in kickboxing and has competed in jiu-jitsu. Outside of the gym, she enjoys CrossFit, sketching, and catching up with friends over coffee—especially from Molly’s in Tramore, her go-to spot for the best brews in Waterford.

Lauren brings her expertise, empathy, and energy to every class, ensuring all participants feel supported and empowered on their fitness journey.
